Joint conference of TREE and SHP

8–9 June 2027 | Bern, Switzerland

The Swiss Household Panel (SHP) and Transitions from Education to Employment (TREE), two of the longest-running panel studies in Switzerland, are jointly organising a conference to be held on 8–9 June 2027 at the University of Bern.

The interdisciplinary conference will include thematic sessions on a wide variety of topics, including education and labour market pathways, development of health and well-being, socio-economic inequality and mobility, family formation and dynamics, gender, ethnic minorities and migration, politics and attitudes, and methodological issues in longitudinal surveys. The language of the conference is English.

Call for papers and session proposals

We welcome contributions based on longitudinal data, whether from Switzerland or abroad, from all areas of the social sciences. In addition to paper submissions we also offer the possibility to propose an entire session (90-minute symposium comprising three to five related presentations).

Deadline for submissions is 15 January 2027.

Paper presentation proposal
Please provide the following information.

  • The title of the presentation; 
  • An abstract of around 200-300 words. 

Session proposal
Session proposals should include three to five paper presentations. Please provide the following information.

  • The names, affiliations, and e-mail addresses of the session organizers;
  • The title of the session and an abstract of around 200-300 words;
  • For each paper in the session: The names, affiliations, and e-mail addresses of the authors, the title of the presentation, and an abstract of around 200-300 words.

The conference will take place at UniS, Schanzeneckstr. 1, 3012 Bern, Switzerland.

Conference dinner

The conference dinner will take place on 8 June 2027 at Restaurant Rosengarten.

Pre-conference workshop

On 7 June, the day before the conference, we will be offering a data workshop for researchers interested in SHP and TREE data. Further information will be provided in due time.
